Mit Automotive Ethernet hat man eine Möglichkeit gefunden eine bekannte und bewährte Technologie des Consumer-Electronics-Bereiches für die Automotive-Branche zu adaptieren. Das Ethernet bietet dabei eine hohe Bandbreite bei gleichzeitig geringen Kosten trotz hoher Flexibilität. Neben der Anbindung von hochauflösenden Bildsensoren und Radars, wird Ethernet als Backbone-Verbindung zwischen Hochleistungsrechnern innerhalb des Fahrzeugs verwendet.

Automotive Ethernet offers the possibility to adapt a well-known and proven technology of the consumer electronics sector for the automotive industry. Ethernet offers high bandwidth and flexibility at low cost. In addition to the connection of high-resolution image sensors and radars, Ethernet is used as a backbone connection between high-performance computers within the vehicle.

The product spectrum of GÖPEL electronic ranges from powerful automotive Ethernet controllers with a variety of onboard protocols and onboard functionalities to multibus controllers and simple media converters, which only convert the physical layer between conventional Ethernet and automotive Ethernet.
