Automotive Ethernet Interface - modules for automotive applications

The ability to transfer large amounts of data is required for connectivity, big data, and autonomous driving in in-vehicle communication networks. Automotive Ethernet is therefore becoming increasingly important in modern vehicle architectures, particularly with the adoption of standards such as 100/1000BASE-T1 and 10BASE-T1S.Automotive Ethernet converters and interfaces are ideal for developing, testing and validating Ethernet-based vehicle networks. Interface modules, such as automotive Ethernet controllers or multibus controllers, as well as media converters for automotive Ethernet standards, such as 100/1000BASE-T1 and 10BASE-T1S, enable reliable connection and communication between control units.

The standard offers the possibility to adapt a well-known and proven technology of the consumer electronics sector for the automotive industry. Ethernet offers high bandwidth and flexibility at low cost. In addition to the connection of high-resolution image sensors and radars, Ethernet is used as a backbone connection between high-performance computers within the vehicle.

The Ethernet hardware for the automobile

The product spectrum of GÖPEL electronic ranges from powerful automotive Ethernet controllers with a variety of onboard protocols and onboard functionalities to multibus controllers and simple media converters, which only convert the physical layer between conventional Ethernet and automotive Ethernet.
