Man & machine - together they are the strongest

A cobot inspects car seats at the end of the line. Manual interventions are thus automated. Collaborative robotic arms from Universal Robots are now being used in the end-of-line inspection of car seats.

Car seats are true high-tech systems and have numerous features. Depending on the equipment and vehicle class, safety features such as airbags, memory functions for the seat position, seat occupancy recognition functions, ventilation, heating or adjustable lumbar support are included.

All these functions must be checked at the end of the production process by means of a final test ("end-of-line"). This test concerns all electrical and pneumatic functions of the seat before it is delivered to the car manufacturer's assembly line. Many of these tests have to be performed manually. This manual work involves sources of error and represents a high cost factor. Automation of these tests is now possible with the help of collaborative robots, so-called cobots, in a line cycle.
