TOM magicControl

TOM magicControl

This fully automatic optical inspection system for functional tests of infotainment ECUs was jointly developed by VOLKSWAGEN AG and GOEPEL electronic GmbH within the frame of a strategic partnership.
TOM magicControl is characterised by its versatile configuration as well as a flexible and open architecture, both in hardware and software. In the course of future developments additional solutions for fully automatic optical inspection of vehicle infotainment devices, such as navigation systems or combinational instruments, are to be developed.
A large number of repeated performance measurements can be made overnight using automatic pre-configuration of the operation robot and dynamic indicator evaluations with millisecond accuracy are just a few examples for the wide range of test opportunities with the systems – from simple basic tests to complex test sequences.

TOM magicControl - fully automatic optical inspection system

Advantages:

  • high test accuracy
  • objective and clear results
  • higher test depth
  • simple repeated performance measurements
  • absolute reproducibility of complex test scenarios

Highlights:

  • fully automatic electronic triggering of tests in combination with fully automated operation of buttons, drives, touch screens etc.
  • automatic analysis of images and comparison of test specifications
  • dynamic indicator analysis with millisecond accuracy
  • OCR and symbol recognition

VOLKSWAGEN AG
The optical inspection system, developed to VOLKSWAGEN’s requirements, features a robotic operation arm, high resolution cameras and CAN rest-bus simulation. Optical feedbacks on the ECUs are detected by cameras and automatically analysed. The automated test of interactive systems is also now possible.
