GOEPEL electronic announces the availability of special VarioTAP model libraries for the Freescale iMX6 processor series enabling processor emulation and extended Freescale MCU support.
The VarioTAP model libraries are structured as intelligent IP, enabling a complete fusion of Boundary Scan test and JTAG emulation. On this basis, users are able to execute hardware design validation and prototype tests without firmware. In addition to customer-specific tests, the VarioTAP model utilization provides accelerated in-system programming of Flash and significantly increased fault coverage.
“Supporting the Freescale iMX6 processors in particular for industries such as multimedia, medical engineering, intelligent control and data systems and battery-operated smart devices with high benefit claims was another important step towards meeting the high quality requirements for utilized test and programming tools”, says Stefan Meissner, GOEPEL electronic’s spokesman. “Primarily designers and manufacturers of modules using iMX6 as control processor – particularly for new device generations in the areas of consumer, industrial and automotive applications – will benefit in the utilization of the new VarioTAP models.”
About the Freescale iMX6 processors:
The energy-efficient iMX6 application processors provide up to six cores and are based on a 32-bit ARM Cortex A9 RISC architecture providing clock frequencies up to 1.2 GHz. They are integrated in miniaturized housings as BGA components with up to 624 integrated pins, not allowing direct contacting to external instruments. VarioTAP can be utilized to provide design-integrated tools for test, hardware debug, Flash programming and design validation after chip mounting.
VarioTAP is a technology for processor emulation developed by GOEPEL electronic. Thereby, a processor is reconfigured to provide design-integrated test and programming instruments via the native debug port. A respective VarioTAP model, as part of an extensive IP library, contains all relevant access information for the respective target processor. On this basis users can select a processor corresponding to their design and be able to test and validate the connected hardware unit as well as program Flash memories.
