Smooth Ranger - the Power Sensor
Solving measurement tasks in wide power ranges
The power consumption in vehicles should be kept to a minimum in both, the operation mode and stand-by mode. Situations such as battery discharging or consumption of high currents in different electronic control units (ECUs) under various climatic conditions must definitely be avoided.
If sleep current at uA and high currents up to 100A are to be measured simultaneously, the utilized measurement equipment has to guarantee a wide current range without annoying range switching.
Most instruments are able to measure different currents and operation voltages of electronic assemblies, but their dynamic functionality can only be guaranteed by a specific circuitry with auto ranging.
The “Smooth Ranger” provides the preconditions to meet this measuring task by fast and automated range switching.
No voltage and current jumps
In addition to sleep, quiescent and working currents, the “Smooth Ranger” can measure back currents and short high-dynamic electric impulses. In contrast to typical devices, the auto ranging functions do not result in voltage and current jumps. In all measuring areas the resistance is kept in the mΩ area.
